Would-Be Victims Narrowly Escape Shotgun-Wielding Man In Maryland, Sheriff Says

An early morning incident led to two in Maryland nearly getting shot by a shotgun-wielding man in St. Mary’s County, the sheriff's office announced.

Lexington Park resident Reginald Tre Brown, 31, was arrested by members of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday, Sept. 22 following a shooting incident in the 21900 block of Baja Lane.

Deputies responded shortly before 5:15 a.m. on Thursday morning in Lexington Park, where there was a report of shots fired.

The victim advised investigators that Brown arrived at the residence in a vehicle with a shotgun, pointing the weapon at the victim and another person, firing a shot at both as they fled on foot, according to the sheriff's office.

Brown then got back into his vehicle and fled the area.

Deputies were able to locate the unoccupied vehicle used in the incident in the 21900 block of Rosewood Terrace in Lexington Park, according to the sheriff. Brown was located inside the residence and taken into custody without further incident within an hour of the initial report of shots fire.

The shotgun was also recovered.

Brown was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown, where he was charged with:

  • Two counts of first-degree assault;
  • Two counts of second-degree assault;
  • Reckless endangerment.

He is being held at the detention center on a no-bond status following his arrest.
